Chaplets

  • Chaplet of Divine Mercy

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is recited using ordinary Rosary beads of five decades. The Chaplet is sometimes preceded by two opening prayers from the Diary of Saint Faustina and followed by a closing prayer.

    i. Make the Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

    ii. Opening Prayers (Optional)

You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us.

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You! (3 times)

    iii. Our Father

    iv. Hail Mary

    v. The Apostle’s Creed

    vi. On Large beads:

Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly Beloved Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

vii. On the Ten Small Beads of Each Decade

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

viii. Repeat for the remaining decades

ix. Conclude with Holy God (Repeat three times)

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

    x.Closing Prayer (Optional)

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible; look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy Will, which is Love and Mercy itself.

Jesus, I Trust in You (3 times)

  • Chaplet of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

    Introduction Prayer

    Pray the Anima Christi prayer:
Soul of Christ, sanctify me, Body of Christ, save me, Blood of Christ, inebriate me, Water from Christ’s side, wash me, Passion of Christ, strengthen me, O good Jesus, hear me, Within Thy wounds hide me, suffer me not to be separated from Thee, From the malicious enemy, defend me in the hour of my death, call me, and bid me come unto Thee, That I may praise Thee with Thy saints and with Thy Angels forever and ever. Amen.
For each of the 5 mysteries (on the large beads) pray:
Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto Thine.

    On the small beads, pray:
Sweet Heart of Jesus, be my love.

At the end of each mystery, pray:
Sweet Heart of Mary, be my salvation

    Concluding Prayer
Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.
May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be praised, glorified, loved, and preserved throughout the world now and forever more. Amen.

Five Mysteries of the Sacred Heart Chaplet
You may meditate on these mysteries, or others, while praying the chaplet. Because the decades are short, it is not recommended that you fix one mystery per decade. Instead, dwell on a mystery for as long as it is helpful, move on to a different mystery if you feel drawn to.
    i. The Entry into Jerusalem in which our Savior, meek and humble of heart and riding on a donkey, entered triumphantly into the City of David and his people sang Hosanna.
ii. The Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane in which Christ suffered affliction out of love for sinful and disobedient humanity and asked his disciples to remain, pray and keep vigil with him.
iii. The Road to Emmaus in which Christ accompanied his disciples and interpreted the scriptures for them. Their hearts burned within them, and he revealed himself in the breaking of the bread.
iv. The Blessed Sacrament, which is given to humanity through the Mystery of the Altar, reposed in the tabernacle, and exposed for Eucharistic Adoration, within which God is really, truly and substantially present.
    v. The Image of the Sacred Heart, which represents Christ’s Sacred Humanity, the interior life of his soul, and his affection of merciful love for humanity.

  • Chaplet of the Seven Sorrows of Mary

    Opening Prayer:

My God, I offer you this rosary for Your glory. I want to honor Your Holy Mother, the Blessed Virgin, by meditating upon and sharing in her suffering.

O my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, trusting in Your infinite love I turn to you for forgiveness and mercy. I am truly sorry for the pains You suffered in your most bitter Passion because of my sins. For love of You, and before Your holy presence, I utterly renounce and forsake all the sins of my whole life. I ask pardon from You with all my heart. I firmly resolve to amend my life and would rather die than offend You again.

O Blessed Virgin Mary, you are our tender Mother and the refuge of sinners. I run to you with confidence and love. Hide me under your mantle of love and protection. As I meditate upon the swords of sorrow that pierced your Immaculate Heart, obtain for me the forgiveness of my sins and the grace to live a life of heroic holiness.

Blessed Mother, I unite my heart to yours and offer this rosary for young people: for their purity and growth in holiness, their vocational discernment, and their courage in following Christ.

[I also pray for the following particular intentions…]

    V. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and enkindle in them the fire of Your love.
    R. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created, and You shall renew the face of the earth.

After each set of seven Hail Mary:
Holy Mother hear my prayers, and renew in my heart each wound of Jesus my Savior.

    Closing Prayers
O Mary, you truly became the Queen of all martyrs as these seven bitter swords of sorrow pierced your Immaculate Heart! By the merits of your tearful distress obtain for us and for all sinners the graces of perfect contrition and conversion. Help us always, dear Mother, to imitate you by taking up our crosses and following Jesus with limitless love and generosity. Amen.

    Repeat three times:
Mary, who was conceived without sin and who suffered for us, pray for us.

  • Chaplet of Our Lady of Tears

Begin with the Our Father and Hail Mary, then continue:

Crucified Jesus, prostrate at Thy feet, we offer Thee the tears of blood of Her, who with devotional sympathetic love accompanied Thee on Thy painful way to Calvary. Grant, O good Master, that we take to heart the lessons which the blood-stained tears of Thy most holy Mother taught us, so that we may fulfill Thy holy will on earth and become worthy to praise and bless Thee in Heaven for all eternity. Amen.

Instead of the “Our Father” say:

O Jesus, look upon the tears of blood of Her who loved Thee most while on earth and who loves Thee most intimately in Heaven.

Instead of the “Hail Mary” say (seven times):

O Jesus, hear our petitions for the sake of the tears of blood shed by They dearest Mother.

At the end, say 3 times:

O Jesus, look upon the tears of blood of Her who loved Thee most while on earth and who loves Thee most intimately in Heaven.

    Final prayer:

O Mary, Mother of love, of sorrows and of mercy, we beg thee, join Thy prayers with ours so that Jesus Thy Divine Son, to whom we turn, will graciously hear our petitions in the name of Thy maternal tears of blood, and, together with the graces we implore, grant us finally the reward of eternal life.  With thy tears of blood, O sorrowful Mother, destroy the rule of satan. Through Thy divine tenderness, O bound and fettered Jesus, defend the world from the errors which threaten it. Amen.

This we ask through the merits of Jesus Christ Our Lord.

    Amen.
